| BUDAPEST, Hungary, November 9, 2007 – Tenneco Inc. manufacturer of Monroe® shock absorbers and Walker® exhaust systems and catalytic converters, today announced its prestigious “Customer of the Year” Award winners who were recognized in a special awards ceremony held in the Festetics Palace in Budapest, Hungary.
“It is truly an honor to award these customers for working with us to achieve the highest level in professional and quality-driven relationships,” said Alex Gelbcke, Vice President and General Manager, Aftermarket Europe. “We would like to thank them as both business partners and aftermarket industry leaders. This special award sets an example of excellence for the rest of the aftermarket to follow.”
The Tenneco Aftermarket Customer of the Year Award program was launched across Europe, Middle East and Africa in March 2006. It rewards Tenneco’s aftermarket direct wholesale customers for efforts in areas such as communication, market performance, distribution, innovation, education and partnership. An independent jury composed of leading names in the automotive industry, as well as university representatives, selected the winners in each category. Winners were selected at a meeting in Brussels on September 20 after conducting an evaluation since the beginning of the year.
The Communication award recognizes customers who demonstrate a balanced communication mix, creativity and dedication to using advertising and promotional means to promote their products. The Education award was presented to customers who showed the greatest commitment to improving the standards found in the industry through their education and training programs. The Innovation award was presented to the customer who demonstrated the highest level of creativity and innovative thinking in any area of business. The Distribution award is for the physical distribution of goods and recognizes the customers who create the most efficient and effective distribution networks. The Market Performance award was presented to customers who demonstrated high efficiency in their sales and market intelligence process, as well as in driving efficiencies through every area of their business. The Partnership award was presented to long-term customers who have continuously demonstrated the ability to partner with Tenneco to enhance supplier standards and contribute to better service for the entire customer base.

Participants spent an exciting two days in Budapest. They participated in specially organized business circles, high level round tables with external specialists designed to facilitate best practice exchanges to support the independent aftermarket and distributor’s competitiveness. Topics included logistics, managing growth, block exemption regulation, change and idea management, and vendor managed inventory (VMI).
Participants, concluded the two days by exploring the city and making valuable business connections.
